About /Toast

/Toast is your favorite neighborhood dive bar in the Lavender Beds! We are a roleplaying venue, but if RP isn't your forte, you can just come as you are! All are welcome at our bar.

  • We are a Lala-run bar, so be Lala friendly or find somewhere else to be.

  • Please be respectful; send a tell if you were missed in chat.

  • No harassment or hate speech.

  • /Toast isn't for ERP.

  • Doors are always open for comfort and a quiet space away, even if we're not running the bar officially that night.

  • We are an RP venue, but you don't have to RP to be here or participate.

  • RP walk/be respectful if you're going behind the bar to go downstairs - or ask to be escorted down by staff.

Luna Aequor

A bartender and taproom owner who cares about community. At /Toast, the hospitality is shared in drink. But she'll offer vibrant conversation when you seem open to it. When she's not running the bar, she's working as a bounty hunter for the Shroud and beyond, producing the Popoto Patch zine, and attending numerous Lala-affiliated events! Come by the bar, let's have a conversation!

This server can get you your order promptly with a smile. Check the bar or the floor for this Lala. She may not be in every night, but she's always willing to help out.

Our History

Before /Toast was the tavern it is, it went under a different name: Teal Taproom.Teal Taproom was owned and operated for nearly four decades by a hyur known only as "Old Bastard". Upon the turn of the Seventh Astral Era, most of his patrons found refuge at the taproom following the Calamity. Old Bastard made sure to serve them all in drink, food, advice, and shelter/job alerts.The hyur had the right grit for finding the work, keeping secrets, and tending bar in a post-apocalyptic world. But Old Bastard was only growing older, and he sought to live out the rest of his days relaxing in his home in the Mist and spending time with the companions he had met along the way. That's how Luna Aequor found him, as her work shapeshifted from ally to the Sylphs to a full-blown bounty hunter.When Luna heard Old Bastard had intended to retire and was looking to shutdown Teal Taproom, she took it upon herself to keep the community tavern alive. When the landlord threatened to push the taproom out, Luna packed up her wares, informed the regulars, and they all made their way to what is now known as /Toast: A taproom with all its previous charm and plans to grow in the future.

  • Everything on the menu is 10,000 gil.

  • Buying out the bar for the evening is 500,000 gil, and does not include guest kitchen venue sales. You can book /Toast for a private event for the same price.

  • Ask the bar for something off-menu, we love a challenge!

Ale

Our ale, I'd Tap That, is brewed in-house, with light, piney notes. Easy on the palette - and middling enough in blend - to appease any audience who loves ale or can't figure out what they want.

Whisky Sour

Need something that will make you pucker just a little? Try our whisky sour! We combine our in-house whisky, Old Bastard, with Sun Lemon, muddled sugars, and topped with an egg-white foam for a creamy texture.

Gob-Stopper

Got a gobbie you want to put in their place? Maybe you just want to show them a dizzying time. The gob-stopper is for you! This imported gin and sweet vermouth combo will light you up with a bite of flavor and heavy hand.Name credit: Chloe Midia

Old Fashioned

This drink begins with muddled sugars and local herbs that burst with aromatics. Our house-distilled bourbon whisky, Old Bastard, is then added with additional infusion of oils from the rind of an imported, La Noscean orange.

Saltseer

A tequila- and lime-forward cocktail (both delicious La Noscean imports) with a rim lined in lime juice and coarse sea salt for the proper bite to your drink. Topped with fizzy lemonade, the drink offers a fizzy top that reflects back the foamy ripples and waves of the La Noscean coast.

Mage Bomb

This aetheric-imbued cocktail comes blended with ice, with wisps of its icy chill swirling above the glass. The drink itself glows blue and lavender. Its fruitiness masks the imported vodka, and it's often preferred to folks who want to imbibe but might be lighter-weighted. Luna will put on a show as she makes it, though.

Reds

Hardly a fan of whites, it's the red wines that entice Luna the most and why she keeps the bar fully supplied. Choose from any variety you might like: merlot, pinot noir, syrah, malbec, even zinfandel. Ask, and you can bet we have it.

Pretzel Basket

Want something to munch on while drinking? Our house-made pretzels will hit the spot. (These are not available when we have a guest in the ktichen.)

Filtered Water

Free and offered to those who are sincerely parched... Sometimes offered to those who need a break from the drinks...

Flaming Whisky Shot

A shot that packs a punch! A blend of our whisky, rum, spice, and lit aflame. Order one, or take on folks in the bar for a round of drunkrolls! (You can even challenge Luna, and get your drinks for free for the rest of the night!)

Shots Against Luna

Take the shot, make a /random 20 roll. If your roll is higher than Luna's, your drinks are free the rest of the night! (Cannot buy out the bar for free.)

Drunkrolls

Luna will explain all this in-game, but for reference...

  1. If we have even numbers, Luna will pair everyone off with a partner. If there's an odd number, someone is taking on Luna!

  2. When Luna instructs your character, /slap your partner and then roll /random 20. (You can choose to add some flavor text in RP, or just do the command.)

  3. Luna will judge each slap based on the roll. If your roll is 10 or higher, you slapped them real good! But it's also about rolling higher than your partner. Whoever's roll is lowest is out. If you get a 0 or 1, you "crit" and should continue the night fully drunk and bruised. (Not required if RP isn't your thing.)

  4. If we have multiple pairings, we will continue the bracket until we have declared a winner! Each roll just might get harder than the last!

  5. The final winner of Drunkrolls gets a prize at the end and free drinks the rest of the night!

Guest Kitchen

We have a guest kitchen! Anyone who takes a guest spot in our kitchen during our operation hours keeps all profits and tips made from their sales. The same goes for us! Any profits and tips we make from the bar will stay with /Toast.If you're interested, please reach out to Luna Aequor.

/Toast, the Supplier

/Toast may import our vodka, but we brew our ale and distill our whisky. It's a trade secret that started with the original owner and Luna has continued to this day. /Toast is available to be a supplier (affiliate/partner) for your bar or store.Reach out to Luna for details.

I'd Tap That - Ale by /Toast

The trick is in our wort process. The chiller we use is an aetheric-imbued icing process that keeps a regulated temperature for the ice bath and blooms the flavors we have malted and steeped during our initial process. With our carefully selected recipe of sugars and notes of cacao, you're certain to love our ale.

Old Bastard - Bourbon Whisky by /Toast

This bourbon whisky is Luna's favorite, and she's sure it will be yours. Millioncorn is finely made into the corn mash that makes up the base of our bourbon. Layers of flavors are fermented to produce the slightly sour yet smoky flavor profile. Infused with a secret blend of spices and aged in a charred maple lumber barrel. You'll find the that smoky tinge ends on a sweeter note! It's the perfect base for our Old Fashioned, Whisky Sour, or just ordered straight.

The List

The list is short, but you're on it. You see Luna's eyes follow you as you take a step behind the bar, to the portal beside her. She nods, assuring you it's safe to keep going. You follow the staircase downward to a dark room full of books and a store of /Toast's ale and whiskey.There's a muffled sound coming from somewhere, but you aren't sure where exactly. You follow the heat of the excitement as the muffled conversations grow louder. You press your hand against the bookcase, sure it's coming from the other side, until you find a false book that you can pull like a lever, revealing a doorway to a secret room. Inside they are there: Your people. The scallywags, the gamba fiends, the bounty hunters, sometimes the bounties, and the back alley miscreants... All together, plotting or playing or drinking. Whatever they wish./Toast is their haven from prying eyes. And now it's yours.Welcome.

What You Can Do

  • Be served drinks from downstairs by one of our designated staff somewhere a little more private.

  • Host a game of gamba.

  • RP a session of triple triad (damn Papa Yoshi for not letting us play it for real in Lavender Beds).

  • Start a bar fight.

  • Confront an enemy.

  • Scheme with your squad.

  • Find other scallywags to join you on an adventure.

  • Live out some other RP session amongst gamblers and thieves.

  • Book the room for a private party/RP session.

  • Bust a criminal who's been using the bottom floor as they're own gamba speakeasy.

Other Details

If you're going down there, inconspicuously and in-character RP walk when coming behind the bar to go downstairs. Alternatively, you can ask for Luna/staff to escort you.Luna is currently hiring for folks to help her run this room and all the RP expectations that come with it so she can man the bar and/or swap out positions with someone from time-to-time.
